That is a very good "learning french review" way to really accelerate your french learning.

Did you get the last sound bite? Which said "Le chat court après la souris" in english would be "The cat is running after the mouse". Listen to it again if you didn't get it!

Learning French Review - Aujourd'hui on est mercredi!

Today is Wednesday! That's what the last french review sound bite said, "aujourd'hui on est mercredi!". Listen to it again if you didn't get it!

Another good way to learn or to review your french is to listen to french cartoons for kids.

Cartoons for kids tends to be funny and not too complicated. It is aimed at putting the little ones in a jolly mood when parents are busy doing adult stuffs. Therefore it is a good way to learn french. I have found a good site for learning french with cartoons for kids!

Today we'll see a few new words, mostly about pets!

Un chien - a dog
un chat - a cat
une souris - a mouse
courir - to run
un oiseau - a bird
un lion - a lion (we'll look at the pronunciation later!)
un poisson - a fish

Learning French Review - Bonjour

I hoped that you had the chance to listen to the last sound bite and see if you could understand what is said! Learning french is as easy as listening to some french conversation and pretty soon you will develop the ear and understand more and more.

Let's see what the sound bite said! "C'est une belle fin de semaine" meaning "It is a nice weekend". Pretty simple.

Let's review the days of the week:
Monday - Lundi
Tuesday - Mardi
Wednesday - Mercredi
Thursday - Jeudi
Friday - Vendredi
Saturday - Samedi
Sunday - Dimanche

Our learning french review for the day! See if you can understand that little french sound bite!

Learning French Review - What Is In The News?

Now that it is Saturday and we are firmly into the weekend, let's see what is making the news lately! Looks like the movie "The Incredible Hulk" or in French "L'incroyable Hulk" is making it big at the movie theaters.

In other news, from The Associated Press "President George W. Bush, informed of Russert's death while at dinner in Paris, swiftly issued a statement of condolence that praised the NBC newsman as an institution in both news and politics for more than two decades."

Well it looks like President Bush was in Paris, France for business and likely brushing up on his french as well...

New words for today:
Weekend is: fin de semaine
Going to the movies: aller au cinema or aller voir un film

One more thing, I am going to leave you with a little sound bite. See if you can understand what it says! I'll give you the english translation in the next blog.

Learning French Review

It's Friday the 13th and they say it is an unlucky day! Well, at least it is a good day to start reviewing your high school french and view and review some sites that we'll call "resource sites" that will help you with your french lessons. Learning French Review will guide you now and again to some sites that we trust and that can help you tremendously in your quest of learning the french language.

We say it is "Friday the 13th", in french it is "vendredi le 13". We also talk about
Friday the 13th as a "day fraught with peril", in french "une journée porte malheur".

Things they say bring bad luck :

To break a mirror, brings seven years of bad luck, in french, briser un mirroir amène 7 ans de malheur.

To open an umbrella in a house, in french, ouvrir un parapluie dans la maison.

To walk under a ladder, in french, marcher sous une échelle.

Earlier, I spoke about resources that can help you learn french, so this is a very good site where you can find out how to say any word that you don't know and you can also listen to the pronunication of the word.

Perhaps you can start learning the days of the week!
